Anaesthesia and Pain Management

Ensuring your pet’s safety and comfort through effective anesthesia and pain management is our utmost priority. We understand the concerns pet owners often have about anesthesia safety. That’s why we are committed to providing exceptional care and personalized attention during your pet’s procedure.

Before administering anesthesia, we conduct a thorough physical examination and review your pet’s past medical records. We also recommend comprehensive pre-anesthetic testing, which may include blood tests, urinalysis, radiographs, and ultrasound. These detailed evaluations help us better understand your pet’s health status and enable us to provide safe anesthesia.

Lastly, we assess your pet’s pain levels and address any necessary pain management before the procedure. This comprehensive approach ensures that your pet receives the best possible care during their time with us.

On the day of the procedure, all pets undergoing anesthesia have IV catheters placed. This is crucial as it allows us to administer fluids during the procedure to help maintain blood pressure. It also provides us with constant access to the vein for administering medications as required.

Additionally during dental treatment, we use intraoral regional nerve blocks, similar to the novocaine shots you might receive at the dentist, during many procedures. These nerve blocks help reduce pain during the procedure, thereby decreasing the amount of gas anesthesia needed. This approach ensures that your pet’s comfort and safety are prioritized throughout the procedure.

After anesthesia, your pet is closely monitored during recovery. Once ready, pets walk out of the hospital wagging their tails the same day of the procedure. After the procedure, adequate pain control is sent home to help your pet remain comfortable during the recovery period.

Our individualized approach to anesthesia and pain control contributes to our goal of a safe anesthetic experience and speedy recovery.

Ensuring the highest level of care for pets is indeed something to be proud of. If you have any more questions or need further information, feel free to  ask .
