DENTAL TREATMENT

DENTAL TREATMENT MORE AFFORDABLE

We have performed over 3,000 dental treatment surgeries, making us the one of the most experienced animal hospitals in GTA.

Just like your own annual checkup at the dentist, cats and dogs should come in for a dental examination at least once every year. Pets that are more prone to oral health issues than others may need to come in for a checkup more often than that, though.

Weldrick Animal Hospital can assess, diagnose and provide dog and cat dental care to your pet.

  • Symptoms
Symptoms
If your pet displays any of these symptoms, please bring them in for a dental checkup.
  • Bleeding from the mouth
  • Swelling or pain in or around the mouth
  • Broken and/or loose teeth
  • Extra teeth or retained baby teeth
  • Tartar buildup
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Bad breath
  • Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
  • Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth

  • Assessment
Assessment
A thorough pre-anesthetic physical assessment will be completed for your pet before the dental treatment.
We will take blood sample from your pet for analysis to ensure that it’s safe for your companion to undergo anesthesia for the procedure.
Once your pet is under anesthesia, we will conduct a complete oral examination (tooth by tooth), taking dental radiographs and charting.

  • Treatment
Treatment
Next, we will clean and polish the teeth (including below the gum line) and take X-rays. A fluoride treatment will then be applied to each tooth.
If the vet discovers advanced periodontal disease, a custom treatment plan will be developed and discussed with you.
We take a second X-ray if we provided tooth extraction for periodontal disease, fractures, or other reasons to ensure that the extractions were done correctly and that no tooth fragments were left behind.

  • Prevention
Prevention
Ideally, a follow-up examination will be scheduled two weeks after the initial assessment and treatment appointment.
During this visit, we will discuss implementing teeth brushing at home. We can also recommend products that can help improve your pet’s oral health.

Our Price

All-inclusive is only 760$ plus HST(under 20 kg).

All-inclusive cost includes oral examinations, Full Mouth Dental X-Ray, pre-surgical blood work, IV fluids, anesthesia monitoring, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatment.

Patient Requirements

We will request proof of Rabies vaccination and heartworm test (only dogs) at the time of drop-off.

You or your veterinarian should send us by email all relevant information for the last two years if available. If you currently do not have a veterinarian, this is a good time to start a relationship to partner in your pet’s future health.

If your animal requires Rabies vaccination or heartworm test (only dogs), the price will be $35 for each vaccination and $55 for heartworm test.

Your veterinarian may recommend a tooth extraction if your dog or cat has ongoing problems with one or more teeth. A tooth extraction will cost $46. Plus your veterinarian will provide pain medication and antibiotic (only if extraction is done) to improve healing and reduce discomfort after extractions. The total cost for these two medications is anywhere between $60 and $90, depends on the size of your pet.

Please be advised, when booking for surgeries, a non-refundable deposit of $90 (including HST, which goes back into your surgery price) has to be made in order to reserve your time spot. It can be paid by credit card, cheque, paid in person, and money transfer. INTERAC e-Transfer will go to vet@weldrickanimalhospital.com (The deposit will not be refundable if you decide to cancel or reschedule your surgery appointment).

If your pet is over 20 kg please give us a call to discuss the cost of comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment.
