Spay and neuter surgery with clear pricing and compassionate care
Help your dog or cat live a healthier, more comfortable life with safe surgical care, pre-anesthetic screening, modern monitoring, and a team that explains everything in plain language.
Spaying or neutering supports long-term health
Spay and neuter surgery can reduce the risk of serious reproductive and hormone-related conditions while helping prevent unwanted pregnancies.
What is included in the surgery package?
For dog spay/neuter and cat spay surgeries, the all-inclusive package is designed to cover the key safety steps around anesthesia, surgery, pain control, and recovery.
Examination
A veterinary exam helps confirm your pet is ready for anesthesia and surgery.
Blood work
Pre-surgical blood testing checks important internal organ values before anesthesia.
IV fluids
IV support helps maintain hydration and blood pressure during the procedure.
Monitoring
Your pet is monitored throughout anesthesia and recovery by the hospital team.
Going home
Take-home pain medication and a post-surgical exam are included for recovery support.
When should my pet be spayed or neutered?
Many pets are spayed or neutered around 6–7 months of age. For some large-breed dogs, timing may be discussed differently, often around 12–24 months depending on breed, growth, lifestyle, and individual risk factors.
Personalized by size and breed
Small and medium dogs are commonly booked earlier. Large-breed dogs may benefit from an individualized discussion before choosing timing.
Simple, planned procedure
Cat neuter and spay appointments are scheduled with clear preparation instructions and recovery guidance for home.
Spay and neuter fees
Below is the current client-friendly pricing structure. Fees are subject to HST. A detailed estimate is provided before booking so there are no surprises.

Additional procedures can sometimes be done during the same anesthetic
Some pets benefit from combining selected procedures while they are already under anesthesia. Your veterinarian will review what is appropriate and provide a detailed estimate first.
Permanent identification
A microchip can be placed while your pet is asleep, avoiding extra stress later.
Umbilical hernia
Small umbilical hernias may be assessed for repair at the time of surgery.
Deciduous teeth
Retained baby teeth may be checked and discussed if extraction is recommended.
Scrotal ablation
In selected cases, additional surgical planning may be recommended for comfort and healing.
Gastropexy discussion
For some deep-chested dogs, preventive gastropexy may be worth discussing.
No surprise add-ons
Any additional procedure is reviewed with you before booking or proceeding.
Booking and preparation
To reserve surgical time, a $90 booking deposit is required. This deposit is applied toward the final surgery cost when the appointment is kept.
Deposit policy
The $90 reservation fee is non-refundable if the appointment is cancelled, rescheduled, or missed for any reason.
Payment options
The reservation fee can be paid by credit card over the phone, in person, or through Interac e-Transfer to vet@weldrickanimalhospital.com.
Vaccine and testing requirements
Rabies vaccination and heartworm testing may be required depending on your pet’s age, species, and medical history.
