What is included in the surgery package?

For dog spay/neuter and cat spay surgeries, the all-inclusive package is designed to cover the key safety steps around anesthesia, surgery, pain control, and recovery.

01

Examination

A veterinary exam helps confirm your pet is ready for anesthesia and surgery.

02

Blood work

Pre-surgical blood testing checks important internal organ values before anesthesia.

03

IV fluids

IV support helps maintain hydration and blood pressure during the procedure.

04

Monitoring

Your pet is monitored throughout anesthesia and recovery by the hospital team.

05

Going home

Take-home pain medication and a post-surgical exam are included for recovery support.

Timing

When should my pet be spayed or neutered?

Many pets are spayed or neutered around 6–7 months of age. For some large-breed dogs, timing may be discussed differently, often around 12–24 months depending on breed, growth, lifestyle, and individual risk factors.

The best timing should be discussed with your veterinarian so the plan fits your pet, not just a general rule.
Dogs

Personalized by size and breed

Small and medium dogs are commonly booked earlier. Large-breed dogs may benefit from an individualized discussion before choosing timing.

Cats

Additional procedures can sometimes be done during the same anesthetic

Some pets benefit from combining selected procedures while they are already under anesthesia. Your veterinarian will review what is appropriate and provide a detailed estimate first.

Small umbilical hernias may be assessed for repair at the time of surgery.

Retained baby teeth may be checked and discussed if extraction is recommended.

Male dogs

Scrotal ablation

In selected cases, additional surgical planning may be recommended for comfort and healing.

Large breeds

Gastropexy discussion

For some deep-chested dogs, preventive gastropexy may be worth discussing.
